  • Mission: Seedling Foundation's mission is to support Austin's public schools and their most vulnerable children through innovative, research-driven, school-based mentoring, with the overarching goal of interrupting the inter-generational cycle of incarceration.
  • Details: Seedling has served the Austin community since 1998 when we partnered with other community leaders to build school-to-career institutes where high school students could learn important trades in state of the art facilities. In 2006, we launched our well-known mentor program, Seedling's Promise at the request of school principals. Seedling's Promise matches community volunteers with children who are separated from their parents as a result of the parents' incarceration. The mentor program has a formal presence in 36 schools and involves partnerships with Austin ISD, the City of Austin, Communities In Schools, the Office of the Attorney General, and many other government agencies, businesses, faith communities, etc. In addition to mentoring, we are the organization known for landscaping public school campuses and providing college admissions test preparation for high achieving students.
