  • Mission: To provide innovative programs and services to eliminate pet homelessness and to improve the lives of pets and people throughout Central Texas. Vision: A community where every pet has a lifetime home.
  • Details: Texas Humane Heroes, formed by the merger of the Humane Society of Williamson County and the Cen-Tex Humane Society-2nd Chance, is a private, non-profit organization founded in 1979, with adoption center locations in the Austin and Killeen/Fort Hood areas. Texas Humane Heroes is 100% funded by donations, grants, and modest fees for service. Texas Humane Heroes receives no government funding. To that end, our funds support high-volume adoption programs, low-cost spay/neuter clinics open to the public in an effort to eliminate pet homelessness by preventing unwanted births, and pet retention programs including low-cost vaccination clinics and counseling services helping members of our community to have the resources needed to hold on to their beloved pets.
